Who is Stephanie?
Stephanie is a book-reading, journal-writing, soup-making, smoothie-inventing, vegetable-loving, home-schooling mama of two!
Stephanie has numerous roles at Cooperfly Creative Arts. She helps coordinate the tours for Kevin and the Cooperfly Puppet Troupe, organizes and advises on the educational components of Kevin's conference presentations, presents at conferences on great multicultural and musical children's books to incorporate in both the home and classroom, and is the general idea consultant for the company! She's passionate about great children's books and loves sharing them with children, parents, and educators! Because of that, as a division of Cooperfly Creative Arts, she started Mama-Lady Books, where her mission is to get great multicultural children's books into the hands of children and the grown-ups who love them!
Besides home-educating, idea-consulting, and food-from-scratch-making, Stephanie is also one of the coordinators of Families For International Children’s Heritage Camp: a week-long day camp experience for children who’ve been adopted internationally. Stephanie also loves helping out in the children’s ministry at their church, Madison Square.
Growing up in Madison Heights, Michigan, Stephanie moved to the west side of the state to attend Grand Valley State University where she graduated with a B.A. in Psychology/Special Education. Afterwards she taught part-time as a teacher for preschoolers with ASD, and worked part-time assisting Kevin with scheduling the details of his school presentations. They worked so well together (and loved doing it!) that they decided to work together full-time from the next year on. For the next two years they presented at schools and teacher conferences throughout the country, and wrote the book "A Curious Glimpse of Michigan" together, too. Once their son Carlos came home, Stephanie's presenting days pretty much came to a halt, but she and Carlos enjoyed traveling all over with Kevin watching him perform. (Now with homeschooling, she, Carlos, and Maria (their daughter) can once again travel with Kevin while taking their school "on the road!")
Stephanie currently lives in Grand Rapids with her family, two cats, and a dog, in a house where it seems there's always room for one more!
