Justin who?
Justin Haveman
Justin has been performing with the Cooperfly family since 2012 and you'll find him in various performances these days. He is the human wrangler for EdGar Sinclaire, Critter, Bill William, and Wendell. With Justin’s presence in the troupe, there is a constant push to utilize all the possibilities of two puppeteers. This was most apparent with Justin’s debut at ArtPrize 2012 performing "A Variety of Puppet Vignettes in G Major." Kevin and Justin pressed themselves to develop the kind of relationship which two performers need to improvise. Visit this entry alongside Justin’s 2013 & 2014 ArtPrize entries at the ArtPrize website. Justin as a whole brings another creative mind into the mix of things!
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, growing up in Holland/Zeeland, MI and attending MSU, Justin has brought a myriad of perspectives to every program he has been a part of developing. With childhood aspirations to become an inventor fueled through his love of dismantling things and truly figuring out their guts he has brought in a fresh view.
Justin graduated from Michigan State University (Class of 2010) with a Bachelors of Science focused in History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science and with specializations in Cognitive Science and Connected Learning. (Go Bailey Scholars!) Justin then moved back to his hometown until he realized just how close and great Grand Rapids was and is. In early 2012 he moved in with Kevin and his family and began working as part of Cooperfly shortly thereafter. (Kevin and Justin are cousins so it really is the Cooperfly family.) Justin enjoys all Grand Rapids has to offer for artists and individuals.
“I've finally found a place where I fit and look forward to all the smiles I may bring. It is a real treat to perform for my community and all over the country; I truly appreciate any joy I can spread among residents and visitors.”
